There are a couple of things from home I really miss, and it becomes a bit more pronounced as the holidays approach. Some traditions are hard to have when things are not close. One of those is the Cascarones! Back home you can buy confetti filled eggs at just about any grocery store! Here nothing, but that was okay this year. I decided to host a Mexican Easter. Which became known as Meeaster. LOL.
I just thought it was something important and fun! I have such great memories of making, hiding.cracking, filling, the empty cascarones! I want my boys to grow up with that tradition. Logan really enjoyed it but did not really understand it!
At the start of the month I started collecting my egg shells and cleaning them out. I was able to save about 36 egg shells. We colored and stuffed them with confetti before hiding them out in the back yard. We also hid plastic candy filled eggs. I think the kids really enjoyed the whole cracking them on peoples head!
It was so much fun. Growing up our dinner was a cook out. We never had ham or roast. It was fajitas and rice and beans! Some yummy guacamole, and salsa. So that is what we had. It really made it feel like the kind of Easter I grew up having. My friends really enjoyed it as well. I am glad that I was able to share that with them. I think I will make it a tradition to host on each year when we are far from family!
I just love these two boys! They are just too darn cute and they have me wrapped around their fingers.
School Easter egg hunt, yes it did snow and that was a first for me.
