This Christmas in lue of saving some money I pursuaded Mike that we should drive to Texas for the holidays. After mapquesting the directions, it calculated that it would take us a total of 22hrs to get to our destination. We took off Friday the 19th around 4 pm. We got on 395 we were quickly stuck in serious traffic. It took us 2 hours to get to Woodbridge and we just about turned around back home. Mike and I took 3 hr shifts, and I took the late night shift through most of boring old Alabama with the help of 2 Monsters. All in all it took us 24 hours to get to Houston, and I was okay with it, but Mike on the other hand said never again! He was miserable.
It was good to be back home, and see friends, and family. We spent Christmas with my family at my Aunts house. My grandma came up for the occasion to make some yummy tamales. The whole time I saw her was in the kitchen. Everytime Mike and I would go hang out with my Aunt she would stuff Mike with food. Ha Ha. He has offically gone on a diet, since he gained some weight.
My sisters, Aunt, and Grandma.

My brothers and sisters.

My brother Lenny and I.

Mike got a blue ray player, some sweaters, dvds, a game, cash, gift cards, and the sweetest was an email from Oxford University on Christmas Eve letting him know that he had been accepted to Oxford. He ran upstairs excited and made me read the email before he would tell me why he was excited!
I got a sweet camera, clothes, gift cards, some boots, and Betsy Johnson shoes, creams and body lotions, games, and movies. All in all a great Christmas. Oh and I won the Bowerbank Fantasy Football League this Year!!!!
The last night that we were there I got to hang out with many of my friends. Jon and Jocelyn made dinner for us and we then played games. My friend Sariah and Paul came over, as well as Davy and Megan. We played a fun game named The Totally Insane Card game. I loved it, but Mike not so much. Being around friends that I love like family made me really miss living in Texas. I hate that I did not get to see Matt and Trish, and Tiffany and Jason.

Jocelyn looks like she is about to lay down a winning hand.

We broke the trip home into two days, spending the night in Birmingham, Alabama. It rained all day the first day we drove, which drove me nuts. We made it home in 22 hrs. No ticket for speeding. Yippee...
We were home in time for New Years. Mike had made a reservation to Morton's Steak House, it was fun the steak was good but not the best that I have had, the dessert on the other hand was divine.
Some of my Resolutions for the New Year:
1. Work out at least 2 a week.
2. Close lids. I have a bad habit of just placing it on top, but not closing things. Then I get mad when I spill pills, BBQ sauce, milk, etc.
3. Read more.
4. Control my temper
5. Do more service.
6. Visit Texas(home) more often.
7. Blog a little more.
8. Send out Christmas Cards. I am sorry
about not sending christmas cards this year.
I hope everyone had a great time over the holiday's and wish you all a Blessed 2009.

we were sad we didn't get to see ya'll. Tell Mike congrats on Oxford. Wow, that's awesome.
I really hope you get to come down here in March or summer. Just don't come during the July 4th break b/c we'll be in Utah.
I think the 3 hour shifts were too short, that's hardly any time to sleep before your next shift. I would have been better off with 6 hours shifts, he he. But then again, I'm a freak and can drive 14 hrs to Southern Utah without dozing.
Oh, and Blue Bell ice cream is AWESOME. Totally random, but there's a Blue Bell ice cream parlor in the middle of this coastal town Retalhuleu in Guatemala. I went there almost everyday. There was another Elder from Amarillo who went even more than I.
Congrats on Oxford. Sorry I haven't kept up. What are you doing there?
Cory
I'm not sure which is more exciting for us: The excitement of going to Oxford, or the excitement of eating Blue Bell Ice Cream. BTW, that is the way to eat it, right from the carton. Way to go my friend!
