We Are Having A......

Cars and trucks, or ribbon and bows
Follow the poem and soon you'll know
Twinkle twinkle little star
How we wondered what you are

Bottles, rattles, and cute little socks
Lullabies, laughter, and alphabet socks
Hugs and Kisses to make me smile
Dirty diapers that go on for miles

We are so thrilled to say
A little prince (pimp) is on his way
We're seeing blue wherever we go
This little slugger will have some flow!

This week is a wonderful mile stone in my pregnancy. I am half way there, 20 weeks. Yahoo! Okay ladies and gents so I am not the best at writing poems but I think you get the point. It totally was so unreal to hear the lady say it's a boy. I got very emotional. Since the start I had a feeling it was a boy, but I had dreams of a girl so it made it hard to know. But Mike is so freaking excited!!! He wanted a boy, and a boy is what he is going to get.

Carrot Cookies!

(Here's a pict. of my final product)

So after a couple of days searching the Internet, I found a recipe that seemed to fit the one I remember from childhood. The biggest difference in this one among the many others I viewed was that the carrot was grated, not smashed. As a young child I was the one who my mom told to grate the carrot, hence, I know I am close. I was so excited to make this recipe, I could finally satisfy one my of many cravings I have been getting.

Here is the recipe:
  • 1 c. of shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. shredded carrots
  • 2 c. all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • Bake at 400 degrees for about 8-10 min.
My problem, well I walked to Summertown, and asked at various stores if they carried shortening. They looked at me funny, and said "NO". ugh. Then I searched the Internet for a substitute and found a couple. Not only that but after I got home I realized I only had one egg, so I added mashed banana in substitute for the other egg. Overall the cookies were good, but more cake like than I remember. I can't wait till I get back to try it with the right ingredients. It did satisfy the craving though, so I must admit, it was a success after all!

17 Weeks!

17 Week Appointment!
After 17 weeks of being pregnant I finally hear our little one's heart beat! I have had over 6 ultra sounds already, but until today I had not heard the heartbeat! Of course, I cried a little! It was such a sweet sound, I was so astonished. Wow! Our next appointment will be on the23 of Dec. and hopefully we will find out if our baby is a girl or boy. This is my little belly, I totally stuck it out a bit more, but its growing!

The only bummer was that Mike was not with me at the appointment. Speaking of Mike he will be done with his first term by the end of the this week. Then a winter break, but he still has much reading to do. We put up our little Christmas Tree, due to the size of the flat it was inconvenient to get a big tree. So we settled for a 3 ft. Christmas Tree.
