Family Ties

Mike's Mom, Dad, and little sister Amanda flew into town last Saturday. We were so excited to have family stay with us. It was so much fun to show them D.C., Old Town and other places.

Saturday Night we hit up Mai Thai in Old Town for some grub. I was a little hestitant with my new diet, but all was well. After that we went home since it had been a long trip.

Sunday morning we all went to church. After a Sunday nap we headed to Skyline Drive and had a picnic there before heading home. The colors were amazing, and glad that the leaves put on a show for the family.

Monday I had to go to work but caught up with them after their trip to Mt. Vernon. We went up to Northwest D.C. by the national catherdral and had dinner at Catus Cantina.

Tuesday and Wednesday I went along for some tourist stuff with them. Went on the capital tour, and to the Library of Congress. I found the Library very intersting and need to go back and get a Library card soon.

Thurday we headed up to Gettysburg and did a 2 1/2 hr. tour with some guide in our car. Too much information. My mind went A.D.D for a while, but overall a very neat experience. I was touched by the lives that were lost for our freedom. Whe we got home, Mike who had to work that day, had made us a wonderful dinner! I would have to say his cooking skills have definatly improved since he's been married.

Friday went shopping with Amanda in Gerogetown. Had tons of fun with her, and miss her dearly. We went to Peking Gourmet Inn for dinner. If you havent been there I def. recommend it. One of my favorite places to go around here. The duck is wonderful.

Saturday they all went home, and I was sad to see them go. It was so wonderful to have the family in town.

Apple Pickin'

This past weekend Mike and I got away for the weekend. We headed up to Front Royal with two other couples for the weekend. I was so excited because this was the first weekend in three weeks that did not include hospitals! We left around 5 pm on Friday. The trip was not too long, and we did not hit much traffic. We got to the cabin house a little after 7pm. We almost made it there without incident. About 15 minutes before we reached our destination Mike ran over a huge opossum. I felt so bad, I've never run over a animal. It just froze there in the middle of the road. If he continued at the pace he was crossing the road the poor animal would of made it!

Fun times picking apples!

It was a wet weekend. We played Settlers of Catan all night after dinner. It rained all night too. From the looks of things it seemed it would ruin our trip to the apple orchard. The next morning, it was drizzling. I made breakfast for everyone! Waffles, homemade whipped cream, bacon...this is how i found out bacon was not the best thing for me to eat. Oh well, after a couple of pills, I was fine and dandy. Around 11am the weather lightened up, the sun came out!

We took advantage of this and headed out to the orchard. We had tons of fun. It was not as muddy as I thought it would be. After pickin some apples, our friend Don took out the baseball bat and we proceeded to play Apple ball! It was tons of fun. Mike really enjoyed himself!

He was so happy when we arrived.

Mike playing apple ball! Look how

excited he is.

I suck at hitting the apples!

I tried it a little, but not the best idea. We headed to the apple store and bought some fun stuff. We then headed to the Apple house where we bought some delicious apple donuts! They were freaking delicious, I only wish I could of eaten a whole donut. I am grateful that I had some. The rest of the time, we enjoyed playing games and relaxing. It was fun and So good to get away!!!
